Armed Forces Day: your support means a lot

Published On: Jun 24, 2022

This Saturday 25th June is Armed Forces Day and it is a chance to say thank you to everyone who serves their country. As well as that, it is an opportunity a chance for members of the public to find out a little bit more about what it’s like to serve in the Army, Navy, Royal Air Force or Royal Marines. It is also a great day out.

Events are being held up and down the country this weekend at dozens of different locations, from Aberdeen to Worthing. There will be military vehicle and weaponry displays, flypasts, military fitness demonstrations, WW1 reenactments, marching bands and barbecues. You can check out what is happening in your area here.

REORG will be flying the flag at Plymouth Armed Forces Day, which takes place in the stunning cliffside setting of Plymouth Hoe. The whole thing promises to be epic, with events all day like a field gun competition, interactive displays from both the Armed Forces and Emergency Services, along with plenty of music from military bands and choirs, ending with a free concert in the evening.

At Plymouth there is also a dedicated Veterans Village, where REORG has a stand. This will give us a chance to talk to everyone about everything that we have been doing over the last couple of years, and all the plans that we have as the charity helps more people around the world. We will also have some mats on the floor, so if anyone has never tried jiu-jitsu, we can let them see what it’s all about.

“It is a day of celebration where the public can show support to both serving military and veterans,” said REORG founder Sam Sheriff.  “But it’s also a chance for the military to let the public know how much they appreciate the support. When you are serving you spend a lot of time with your comrades, so it’s nice sometimes to be reminded that people out in the wider world care about what you are doing.”

If you get a chance, we urge you to go along to any of the Armed Forces Day events. It promises to be a fun day out. And your support, however small, can mean a great deal.
